Founded in 1922 and constantly expanded ever since, Messe Cologne is one of the largest and most influential exhibition centres in the world. In 2015 the venue organisers announced KOELNMESSE 3.0 which will further modernise and digitalise the venue, ranking it the fifth-largest trade fair in the world. In addition it will introduce unique formats, combining congresses with exhibitions, bringing the trade fair industry to the next level.

The Cologne Messe organises over 80 trade fairs annually. It has over 284,000 sq. metres exhibition floor area and is the third largest venue in terms of indoor exhibition area. Messe Cologne has 11 main trade fair halls, 2 congress centers and additional 100,000 sq. metres of open space, a park and a theater. Several world-leading trade fairs are held in Messe Cologne - Anuga, Anuga FoodTec, Dmexco, Gamescom, Imm Cologne, Intermot, Kind + Jugend and Photokina, just to name a few.

Cologne Messe is directly adjacent to Köln Messe/Deutz train station to the south. The station has ICE connections by Deutsche Bahn, to Köln Hauptbahnhof and Cologne/Bonn Airport.
